Dublin's MP2 project gets MacGregor linkspan

PortA major step forward in Dublin's MP2 port plans has been taken with the delivery of a new double-level linkspan for the new Berth 53, which will be the easternmost RoRo berth in the port. This is the largest linkspan so far in Dublin, designed to service future generations of RoPax vessels.

Fabricated for MacGregor by Crist in Poland, the two-level linkspan weighing 890 t was delivered by flat-top barge. It is expected that the berth, compatible with the largest size of new-generation RoPax, will be used by Stena Line for its connection to Holyhead.

The MP2 project will eventually unify the ferry terminals, providing a much larger parking area for trucks and passenger vehicles. A new passenger terminal is also under construction.
