Changes may be underway at Corsica Ferries
FerryCorsica Ferries is selling yet another ferry to the Saudi Arabian company Tarco Marine. At the same time, a ferry from Stena Line is on its way into the Corsica Ferries fleet.
According to Shipping Italy, it is the RoPax MEGA EXPRESS FIVE, built in 1993, that is heading to Tarco Marine - a shipping company that already operates two former Corsica Ferries vessels, CORSICA MARINA SECONDA and CORSICA VICTORIA, under their current names AL JABARA and QUEEN RINAS, on a route between Jeddah in Saudi Arabia and Digna in Sudan.
MEGA EXPRESS FIVE was purchased in 2006 from Japan and subsequently underwent a major rebuild, during which the passenger capacity was significantly increased.
It is the 1987-built STENA VISION that the outlet reports is expected to join the Corsica Ferries fleet. STENA VISION became redundant in the Stena Line fleet after the company ended its service on the Rosslare-Cherbourg route at the end of September this year. STENA VISION arrived in the Mediterranean back in October, where the ferry has, among other things, carried out trial calls in Algeciras before moving to an anchorage off Gibraltar.
According to other media reports, STENA VISION will be renamed MEGA SERENA before being deployed in Corsica Ferries’ route network to Corsica and Sardinia.
