Celestyal Cruises acquires AIDAAURA – vessel to be renamed CELESTYAL DISCOVERY after major refit in Greece
CruiseCelestyal Cruises has confirmed its acquisition of Carnival Corporation’s cruise vessel AIDAAURA with the 2003-built vessel entering service in March 2024 as CELESTYAL DISCOVERY following a major refit in Greece.
CELESTYAL JOURNEY, which was acquired earlier this year from Seajets will also undergo a major upgrade in Greece at the same time. ahead of their 2024 season.
At 42,289 gt the latest addition to the Celestyal fleet is a mid-size vessel, allowing the Greek operator to continue offering its signature unique blend of marquee destinations and more secluded ports of call that characterises Celestyal's itineraries.
CELESTYAL DISCOVERY offers 633 passenger cabins, 62 with private balconies, providing accommodation for a total of 1,266 passengers. The vessel is a major upgrade on CELESTYAL OLYMPIC, offering more dining options, entertainment spaces and conference/meeting rooms.
As AIDAAURA, the vessel operated for Carnival Corp's German brans, AIDA Cruises, for 20 years, since being delivered by the then German shipbuilder Aker MTW in Wismar.
