Attica Group announces major fleet renewal

FerryAttica Group has signed a five-year bareboat charter agreement for the 2021-built RoPax GNV BRIDGE, which will be renamed SUPERFAST V and join the Adriatic routes in May 2026, replacing the 1987-built LEFKA ORI. The Group is also renewing its fast ferry fleet in the Saronic Gulf through the purchase of two modern 270-seat Aero Highspeed catamarans and the en-bloc sale of four older vessels to Seajets.

Attica Group has signed an agreement for the long-term bareboat charter of GNV BRIDGE, with a duration of five years and a contractual obligation to purchase the vessel at the end of the charter period. Delivery of the 2021-built “Visentini” RoPax is expected to be completed by May 2026. The vessel, which will be renamed SUPERFAST V, will operate on the Adriatic routes, where it replaces the vessel LEFKA ORI, built in 1987.

The capacity of SUPERFAST V is 950 passengers (157 cabins – 616 beds) and 2,564 lanemetres, which significantly boosting the company’s overall capacity on the Adriatic routes. The vessel is equipped with a scrubber system (open loop – hybrid ready). With the acquisition of SUPERFAST V, combined with the two E-Flexer vessels currently under construction and expected to be delivered in 2027, Attica Group consider the modernization of its Adriatic fleet to be completed.

The new fleet operating on these routes will have an average age of 8.6 years (compared to 24.8 years today), with significantly improved energy efficiency. Attica Group has also signed an agreement for the bareboat charter of the RoPax 1990-built KYDON, owned by a subsidiary.

The charter duration has been set at four years, with a contractual obligation for the counterparty to purchase the vessel upon completion of the charter period. The derecognition of the asset resulting from the agreement has no impact on the Group’s financial results.

The Group also announced several changes to its fast ferry fleet, including the purchase of two Aero Highspeed Catamaran vessels for a total investment of EUR 15 million, including the costs of upgrading and activation. The ships are scheduled to be launched in the Saronic Gulf during this summer season as AERO 4 HIGHSPEED and AERO 5 HIGHSPEED. The two 270-seat Brødrene Aa 41m catamarans were bought from Guangzhou Panyu Lianhuashan Passenger Transport in China. MEI ZHU HU (AERO 4 HIGHSPEED) was delivered in 2017 and YU ZHU HU (AERO 5 HIGHSPEED) was delivered the following year.

At the same time, the Group signed an agreement for the sale, in a single transaction (en bloc), of the ships FLYING CAT 3, FLYING CAT 4, FLYING CAT 5, FLYING CAT 6 and HIGHSPEED 4, to Seajets, for a total consideration of EUR 25 million. An accounting profit is expected to arise from the transaction, the amount of which will be finalized upon delivery and completion of the sale of the ships. With the replacement of FLYING CAT 3, 4, 5, and 6 with the newly acquired catamarans, the average age of the fleet operating on the Saronic routes will now be 5.8 years.

The CEO of Attica Group, Mr. Panos Dikaios, stated:
"The renewal and upgrading of our fleet is a strategic priority for Attica Group and a key axis of our investment program. The above agreements, following the sales of ships completed in 2025 (KRITI I, KRITI II, EL VENIZELOS and five Flying Dolphins), confirm Attica Group's commitment to a newer, more efficient and more competitive fleet, capable of meeting the modern requirements of passenger shipping."
