Tallink Silja Line adds VICTORIA I as second vessel to the Tallinn-Stockholm route for summer peak season

As 31 May 2024, Tallink Silja Line will operate the company’s Tallinn-Stockholm route with two vessels - alongside the vessel BALTIC QUEEN, company’s vessel VICTORIA I will be added to the route. The two vessels will operate in tandem between the two Nordic capitals, bolstering significantly the frequency of departures from both Tallinn and Stockholm ahead of the busy summer peak travel season.

Finnlines inaugurated its new line in Malmö

In April this year, Malmö got another connection to the Continent when Finnlines’ FINNFELLOW entered service between Sweden and Poland. On 28 May, the shipping company's new line was celebrated with an official inauguration on board the ship. The inauguration ribbon in Swedish-Polish colours was cut by Finnlines' management and the Mayor of Malmö Municipality Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh (S).

Katy Taylor joins Wightlink as Chief Executive

Katy Taylor will become Wightlink Chief Executive Officer from Monday 19 August 2024. This follows Keith Greenfield’s retirement from the Isle of Wight ferry company after nine years at the helm.
Katy joins from Southern Water, where she has been Chief Customer Officer since 2021. Previously, she was Chief Customer and Strategy Officer at international bus and train operator Go-Ahead Group, which includes Isle of Wight bus company Southern Vectis.

GSAB2 - Grimaldi Satellite Berthing 2 launched

On 14 May 2024, the GSAB2 (Grimaldi Satellite Berthing 2) project started. This is the evolution of the previous GSAB project, which had been assigned to the Grimaldi Group by the European Space Agency (ESA) within its Navigation Innovation and Support Program (NAVISP) in 2022, and whose aim was to develop and validate the first assisted guidance system with satellite technology for docking manoeuvres of large PCTC vessels.

Incat partners with Brittany Ferries and Wärtsilä for all-electric ferry project

Incat announced a new partnership with Brittany Ferries and Wärtsilä to explore design and technical requirements for a 137 metre zero (direct) emission ferry.

Fjord1 awards Norwegian Electric Systems autonomous navigation scope

Ferry operator Fjord1 has contracted Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) to develop systems for automation of vessel functions and autonomous navigation for the four autonomous, zero-emission ferries that will operate the Lavik-Oppedal crossing on the northwest coast of Norway.
Lavik–Oppedal is a ferry route that crosses the Sognefjord, on the northwest coast of Norway. The ferry crossing takes 20 minutes, and the route is 5.6 kilometres long.

Lakeway Link partners with ScanOcean to utilize sustainable marine fuel

Lakeway Link AB has announced a new partnership with ScanOcean AB, a renewable marine fuel solutions provider. This collaboration marks the introduction of B15-DMA, a marine fuel with 15% renewable content, for Lakeway Link's new ro-ro service connecting Södertälje, Sweden, and Gdynia, Poland.
P&O Ferries appoints Expian for new booking solution
Ticketing solutions provider, Expian, has been appointed to supply P&O Ferries with new technology to sell and manage passenger bookings. The appointment sees Expian consulting on transformation of the booking process and implementing sales technology for a major international ferry operator that manages large passenger volumes across three UK ferry routes.
