Grimaldi Group prepares totally new ro-pax class
During Grimaldi Group’s 22nd Euro-Med convention in Lagonissi, Greece, Emanuele Grimaldi revealed the first details of the Group’s next generation ro-pax ferry.
Dubbed the SuperStar Class, the new generation will be a further evolution of the Group's 4,223-lanemetre and 500-passenger Star Class quintet built by Fincantieri in 2006-7. "We have embarked on a project with a 360° review of the Star Class," Emanuele Grimaldi, the Group's Managing Director, said. "The Star Class is an extremely successful vessel type, but it is overpowered for the trades we have in mind for our new ro-pax generation. A higher productivity and a much lower fuel consumption will be key – we can do with less power and smaller engines," he added.
