Bid to move Arran service to Troon
Associated British Ports (ABP) is ready to invest MGBP8 in Troon to create a state-of-the-art passenger ferry terminal to serve Brodick, Isle of Arran, if selected to replace Ardrossan as mainland base for the two ship Caledonian MacBrayne ferry operation.

On October 21, 2016, Shosen Mitsui Ferry (MOL Ferry) announced that it will launch the SUNFLOWER FURANO and the SUNFLOWER SAPPORO on the Tomakomai-Oarai route in May and August 2017 respectively.
SOL expand their fleet
SOL (Svenska orient linjen) has added the ro-ro vessel VINTERLAND, former TRANSREEL, to their fleet. She is currently on a long-term charter to Metsä Board, a producer of boxboards and white linerboards, but will now add capacity to SOL's Baltic Sea network.
