Norled firm up option for fourth newbuild at Havyard

The three new battery-hybrid ferries Norled ordered at Havyard in December have now become four after an option was exercised. The vessels are intended for the Stokkvågen-Lovund and Stokkvågen-Træna routes.

The contract value for the four vessels is approximately NOR 1.5 billion.

NOCC signs with CIMC Raffles Shipyard for two 7,000 CEU capacity car carriers

NOCC announced that it has entered into an agreement with CIMC Raffles Shipyard in China for the construction of two car carrier newbuildings with a capacity of 7,000 CEU. The vessels are dual fuel-LNG type and have an Ammonia Ready basis D-Notation from DNV. Delivery of the first vessel is expected in 2025.

Tallink Grupp has published its 2023 unaudited financials, reporting revenue amounting to EUR 835.3 million (EUR 771.4 million). Unaudited EBITDA was EUR 214.5 million (EUR 135.8 million), and the unaudited net profit for the period was EUR 78.9 million (EUR 13.9 million). 5,705,600 (5,462,085) passengers were carried, 840,881 (819,229) vehicles, while transported cargo units decreased to 323,990 units (409,769).

Gotland Alandia Cruises, jointly owned by Gotlandsbolaget and Viking Line, has chosen Nowhere Networks as supplier of high-speed internet connectivity for its cruise ship BIRKA GOTLAND.

It feels extra special as we were the supplier of internet to this ship a few years ago, when she was operated by Eckero Line and called BIRKA STOCKHOLM. MPUNGU for East Africa Marine Transport launched on Lake Victoria

Following a construction period of 21 months, MPUNGU for East Africa Marine Transport (EAMT) was launched on Lake Victoria from the purpose-built Entebbe shipbuilding facility of SECO Marine (U) Ltd. MPUNGU, which will become Lake Victoria’s first scheduled ro-ro freight vessel, will now undergo a period of trials before commencing service in April 2024.

The ceremony took place in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Works and Transport and representatives from InfraCo Africa, SECO, Grindrod, OSK Design, Alpha Group and EAMT and members of the construction team who had gathered in Entebbe to mark the occasion of floating the vessel.

Condor Ferries has appointed Christophe Mathieu, CEO of Brittany Ferries, as its interim CEO with immediate effect.
This is a result of John Napton stepping down from the company after two and a half years in the role.

In January this year, the Government of Jersey and States of Guernsey announced a procurement process for a new long-term operating agreement for freight and passenger services to the Channel Islands. Christophe will actively lead Condor through this.

With AIDA Evolution, AIDA Cruises has launched the largest modernization program in its fleet. It is the most extensive in the company's history. The first phase of the program will be a major overhaul of the Sphinx ships AIDADIVA, AIDABELLA and AIDALUNA in 2025 and 2026. The focus will be on a new interior design of the ships. In addition, technical equipment and systems will be updated.

Extension of terms of office of AS Tallink Grupp management board members

The Supervisory Board of AS Tallink Grupp has adopted a decision at a general meeting of the Supervisory Board to extend the terms of office of the Chief Executive Officer of AS Tallink Grupp, Mr Paavo Nõgene by three years from 2 May 2024, and the member of the Management Board of AS Tallink Grupp, Mr Margus Schults by three years starting from 29 April 2024.
