P&O Ferries pulls the plug on its Teesport-Rotterdam (Europoort) freight ro-ro service

In the latest part of its cost cutting measures, P&O Ferries ceased its freight ro-ro service between Teesport (UK) and Rotterdam (Europoort) on 21 January, when the chartered Bore-owned 2,220 lanemetre capacity ro-ro ESTRADEN sailed from Europoort to Teesport. The 1999-built vessel, which has been on charter to P&O Ferries since September 2014, then sailed the following day to Zeebrugge.

A milestone for the use of methanol as a marine fuel was achieved in the Port of Gothenburg on Monday, as STENA GERMANICA was the first non-tanker vessel in the world to be ship-to-ship bunkered with methanol.

North Sea Handling to supply Cargo/Passenger Access Equipment for KiwiRails two new ferries

North Sea Handling AS is through its subsidiary NSH Ships Equipment AS awarded the contract to equip KiwiRails two new Railway / Ro-pax Ferries being built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) with cargo and passenger access equipment.

The NSH scope of supply will include a wide range of equipment serving the handling of both cargo, trains, cars/trailers as well as passengers.

Grimaldi Group grows ammonia ready PCTC order book even further

The orderbook for the Grimaldi Group fleet keeps growing. As part of the agreement signed in late October with China Merchants Heavy Industries Jiangsu for the construction of five new 9,000 CEU PCTC vessels, the Group have exercised the option for another five units. With this latest order, the total number of car carriers ordered by the group has risen to 15.

The concept of the newbuildings was developed by the Grimaldi Group in collaboration with Knud E. Hansen. The 9,000 CEU PCTC's will have the Ammonia Ready class notation from RINA, which certifies that the ships are designed for eventual conversion for the use of ammonia as marine fuel.

TENNOR OCEAN sets course for Bremerhaven

Newbuilding 782 has left the Flensburg Fjord and set course for Bremerhaven. The 210-metre-long ro-ro is on the move to Dock 3 at Lloyd Werft. During its week-long stay there, the shipbuilders of Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) will carry out the remaining work on the ship’s hull to optimise the performance data. Afterwards, the TENNOR OCEAN will set out on a multi-day test voyage on the North Sea and the Baltic Sea where all technical systems will be checked and nautical manoeuvres will be carried out.
