Fincantieri delivered SEVEN SEAS SPLENDOR

SEVEN SEAS SPLENDOR, the second in a series of three ultra-luxury cruise ships for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, has been delivered from Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard.

Construction has officially commenced on CELEBRITY BEYOND, the third ship in Celebrity Cruises’ revolutionary Edge Class that will be delivered by builders Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire in autumn 2021.

Brittany Ferries switches ports on its Ireland-Spain service

Brittany Ferries will reshuffle its Ireland to Spain service from 28 February with Rosslare-Bilbao replacing the current Cork-Santander route as the company’s key freight route from Ireland to Europe. The change is in direct response to demands from Irish and Continental hauliers.
Coronavirus outbreak affects China-Japan passenger ferry services

Hot on the heels of cruise lines having suspended cruise operations in mainland China due to the Coronavirus outbreak, ferry operators linking Shanghai with Japan are following suit with Japan-China International Ferry Co. having suspended its passenger service operated by XIN JIAN ZHEN with immediate effect.

Corsica Linea and La Méridionale agree on a joint bid for upcoming public ferry service contract

In a press release dated 28 January, Corsica Linea and La Méridionale confirmed they have agreed on a joint bid for the seven-year public ferry service that is due to start on 1 January 2021.

F.-A.-GAUTHIER back in service

After an absence of more than one year following serious technical issues, Sociétié des traversiers du Québec’s (STQ) LNG-powered F.-A.-GAUTHIER has been re-introduced, offering up to one return crossing per day from Matane to Godbout and Baie-Comeau, respectively.

P&O Ferries unveils artist’s impressions of Dover-Calais newbuilds

P&O Ferries has unveiled the first official artist’s impressions of the hybrid battery-powered double-enders which they ordered at the Chinese Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) shipyard in late September 2019.

MARCO POLO debuts for TT-Line

With the conversion and extension of the accommodation forward and aft of the existing deckhouse on Deck 7 completed, TT-Line has introduced its 141-trailer intake MARCO POLO on the Trelleborg-Klaipeda route. The freight-oriented ro-pax ferry made her first commercial sailing from Klaipeda to Trelleborg in the morning of 27 January.

Helsinki remains the busiest passenger harbour in Europe
The Port of Helsinki’s traffic figures for 2019 are excellent. A total of 12.2 million ship passengers travelled via Helsinki, which maintained its status as the busiest international passenger port in Europe. Liner traffic on the Tallinn route remains extremely popular, but the most substantial growth was in the passenger numbers in international cruise traffic. In cargo traffic, the goods of Finland’s foreign trade flowed via the Port almost at the record rate of 2018, even though 2019 started off slow.
Almost 290 cruise liners will call at Ports of Stockholm in 2020
The 2020 cruise season is expected to be another record year in terms of passenger numbers for Ports of Stockholm. The season will see almost 290 cruise calls, with as many as 13 maiden visits.

Tallink Grupp’s popular vessel SILJA EUROPA will set sail to Turku Repair Yard in Naantali, Finland, on Sunday, 26 January for scheduled maintenance and planned renewal works. The vessel will stay in Turku Repair Yard for two weeks, returning to the Tallinn-Helsinki route on Sunday, 9 February.
