Baleària has been re-awarded the Public Service Contract to operate between Algeciras and Ceuta for a further year, by the Spanish Industry Ministry. The contract, which will run from 1 July, is worth EUR 283,000 to Baleària.

Eckerö Line has announced that it will operate its newly acquired ro-pax ferry FINBO CARGO – the former EUROPEAN ENDEAVOUR of P&O Ferries – from Vuosaari to Muuga instead of Tallinn’s A Terminal in the ‘old harbour’ close to the city centre.

UK shipbuilder Cammell Laird, which recently returned to the ferry newbuilding market with the design and construction of the freight ro-ro RED KESTREL for cross-Solent operator Red Funnel, is increasing its ferry design portfolio by releasing early news about its latest project – an eco-friendly ro-pax design, which it unveiled at this week’s Nor-Shipping trade fair in Oslo, albeit without much detail about the vessel.

Improved EBIT for Clipper Group

Clipper Group A/S has published its 2018 results which show significant growth for Seatruck Ferries, the Irish Sea niche ro-ro operator which has become the Group’s core business following its divestment in Danske Færger A/S and fleet management, whereas dry bulk activities were transferred to Clipper Bulk Shipping Ltd., a sister company to Clipper Group A/S. The restructuring affected the group’s revenue which almost halved to USD 113 million.

RMC’s new vessel to create jobs to the western coast of Finland: a substantial power system agreement reached with companies in the Vaasa region

Rauma Marine Constructions has signed an agreement with their partner network for the delivery of a power system for the new Wasaline ferry, set to operate in the Gulf of Bothnia between the city of Vaasa in Finland and city of Umeå in Sweden. The vessel will employ a hybrid power generation system as well as an electric propulsion system rarely used in RoPax ferries, which will improve its environmental efficiency. The systems will be provided by a network of companies operating in the Vaasa area – including ABB, WE Tech, VEO, and Danfoss/Vacon.
