Following its conversion at Kynousoura and Perama, Ventouris Ferries’ RIGEL VII is ready to be introduced on the company’s Durrës, Albania-Bari, Italy route.

The Croatian 3. Maj shipyard has started with the construction of SCENIC ECLIPSE II, a sister to the 2019-built SCENIC ECLIPSE.

THJELVAR ready to leave Landskrona as GOTLAND

Rederi AB Gotland’s LNG-powered THJELVAR, which arrived in early February at Oresund DryDocks in Landskrona for final adjustments, is ready for the final leg of her positioning trip to Gotland.
DFDS optimizes fleet capacity in Northern Baltic

Due to changed market conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, DFDS is adapting capacity to demand on its Northern Baltic corridors. As Sweden has adopted a different regime to contain the pandemic, the schedule on the Kapellskär-Paldiski route has been improved with the number of sailings on the Paldiski-Hanko route reduced following a freight shipment agreement with Eckerö Line.

Helsinki Shipyard starts production of expedition cruise ship for Vodohod

Following the first steel cut, Helsinki Shipyard has officially started with the production of the first of two expedition cruise ships for Russian Vodohod.
Meyer Turku suffering heavily from COVID-19, taking drastic action

Meyer Turku started negations about temporary layoffs in mid-March, but due to the escalation of the COVID-19 crisis, further actions are being taken that will lead to 450 people being permanently laid off and another 900 affected by other measures.

UK government unveils GBP 27.5 million support package for vital ferry services

Today, 24 April, the UK government announced a support package for ‘essential freight links’ totalling GBP 27.5 million – GBP 17 million for routes between Great Britain and Northern Ireland and a further GBP 10.5 million for lifeline ferry services linking the mainland with the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Wight.
FSG has filed for insolvency

As expected, Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) has filed for insolvency this morning (24 April). According to Northern German broadcasting service NDR and several Northern German newspapers, this was confirmed by the district court of Flensburg.

Keel laid for sixth E-Flexer

Production of Stena’s E-Flexer series continues apace with the keel for the sixth E-Flexer, to become SALAMANCA, having been laid by CMI Jinling Weihai Shipyard on 23 April.

Ferry Operations
- Revenue increased from SEK 13,849 million in 2018 to SEK 14,286 million in 2019.
- EBITDA ended at SEK 3,482 million, compared to SEK 3,007 million in 2018
Roll-on/Roll-off vessels
- Revenue from the company’s ro-ro activities reached SEK 433 million for the period (SEK 518 million)
- EBITDA ended at SEK 291 million in 2019, compared to SEK 321 million in 2018.
Scandlines’s 2019 financials remained flat
Scandlines reported its 2019 financial results which were just slightly weaker than in 2018. Group revenue ended at EUR 475 million (EUR 477 million), of which the ferry routes represented close to EUR 352 million (EUR 352 million) and the BorderShops EUR 124 million (EUR 125 million). Group EBITDA ended at EUR 188 million (EUR 191 million).
ANEK Lines grew its business in 2019
ANEK Lines released its financial results for 2019, showing that the group turnover increased to EUR 173.9 million (EUR 168.2 million), while group EBITDA ended at EUR 25.6 million (EUR 14.6 million).
Getlink First quarter 2020: anticipated reduction in revenue due to COVID-19 impact
Q1 revenue was €233 million, down -9% compared to the same period in 2019[1] and on a like-for-like basis

Shuttle revenue was €133.6 million, down -9% due to restrictions on travel
Railway network revenue down -8% to €66.6 million, particularly due to travel restrictions by the Belgian, French and UK authorities to counter the COVID-19 pandemic and as a result of the SNCF strike against pension reform in January
-Europorte: revenue down -5% to €30.7 million, mostly due to the SNCF strike in January

Femern A/S is activating the main construction contracts with Femern Link Contractors (FLC) with effect from 1 January 2021. This means that construction of the large scale tunnel element factory at Rødbyhavn can get underway.
