Nordic Ferry Infrastructure pulls out of Gotland traffic bidding
FerryNordic Ferry Infrastructure will not go further in bidding for the Gotland ferry services. The CEO of Molslinjen, Kristian Durhuus, revealed this to Helagotland, citing a too low profit cap to justify the massive investment needed.
Molslinjen had outlined three new ships for the service, an investment that would be close to SEK 6 billion, but with a profit cap of 22%, the investment could not be justified, and the company therefore decided to pull the plug on the bidding.
At midnight on Wednesday, the Swedish Transport Administration's extended tender period expired, and Gotlandsbolaget will therefore most likely continue to serve the Gotland traffic from 2027 and 10 years onwards.
Molslinjen, together with Torghatten, are part of the Nordic Ferry Infrastructure Group, which is the largest Northern European ferry group with more than 25 million passengers per year.
