Mike Corrigan announced as new CEO of Interferry
ProfileToday at the Interferry conference in Manila chairman Mike Grainger announced that the new CEO of the shipping association will become Mike Corrigan.
Mike Corrigan currently serves as the president and CEO of Canadian BC Ferries, a role of which he will leave as of March 31st and immediately take up his new post and replace the current interim CEO Darrell Bryan.
Mr Grainger commented that he was the natural choice for the position, stating that; "His experience leading BC Ferries, one of the world's largest ferry operators, means he comes to the position knowing first-hand what many of our member's experience, and how regulations being set for deep-sea shipping are not always appropriate for ferry operations.
"He has also served as an Interferry director for six years, most recently as treasurer, so he also knows the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead for the industry."
Mr Corrigan then commented that he will ensure the industries voice is well represented to international regulators and that the members use the opportunities to network and share best practices with each other. "I am excited to be leading Interferry, advocate on behalf of our industry, focus efforts on passenger and operational safety and build the reputation of ferry operators around the world," he commented. "I believe the experience I've gained for the past 13 years in leadership positions at BC Ferries can be leveraged to good effect in my new role."
