(Video) Launching of THJELVAR, sister to VISBORG, at GSI on monday the 24th
Destination Gotland’s THJELVAR was launched on Monday the 24th of July at the GSI shipyard. The ferry, a sister to VISBORG (delivery late this year), is 200 meters long, 32,000 gross tonnes and will be able to carry 1650 passengers.
2017, second quarter figures for Scandlines Helsingborg-Helsingör released
The ferry company transported more cars and passengers in Q2, 2017, compared to the same period last year. A late Easter affected positive, and a postponed battery conversion affected negative.
OSK-Shiptech A/S and the ferry company Læsø signs contract
The aim with the cooperation is to examine the need for a new ferry between the Danish island Læsø and Frederikshavn, a route that some 270,000 passengers take every year.
LaNaval in dire need of a financial lifeline
Astilleros LaNaval, the Sestao (Bilbao)-based shipyard, is hopeful that a white knight, in the shape of Manuel del Dago, will rescue the yard from its current economic difficulties.
French state poised to temporarily nationalise STX France
In a move aimed at preventing Fincantieri to take a majority stake in the STX France Shipyard, French economy minister Bruno Le Maire has declared that the French state wants to exercise its pre-emption rights to acquire 66.6% of the shares in STX France, equivalent to EUR 79.5m.
Best ever first half year results for Finnlines
During the first half of the year, total revenues for the Finnlines Group increased by 12.4% to EUR 259.3m, compared to EUR 230.7m during the same period in 2016.
Scandlines completes refinancing
Puttgarden-Rødby and Rostock-Gedser operator Scandlines has successfully completed an EUR 862m refinancing comprising a six-year bank tranche, an eleven-year institutional tranche and associated revolving credit and liquidity facilities.
Stena Line to increase capacity on the Rotterdam (Europoort)-Harwich route
Due to increasing demand Stena Line will replace CAPUCINE and SEVERINE by MISIDA and MISANA on the company’s Europoort-Harwich freight-only service in January 2018.
Tynwald rejects IOMSPC’s offer to continue running ferry services to the Isle of Man after 2026
The Parliament of the Isle of Man, the Tynwald, has rejected the Isle of Man Steam Packet Co’s (IOMSPC) GBP 170m offer to continue running the ferry services between the UK mainland and Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man after 2026.
