Destination Gotland to strengthen the Västervik line

Destination Gotland has announced that it will increase the number of departures on the Västervik line for this summer. 50% more departures than last year will be made during the period 1 June to 20 August.

Vessel changes for Inter Shipping

As earlier reported, the NOVA STAR – a 2014 Singapore-built ro-pax ferry which has been on charter to Moroccan operator Inter Shipping since February 2016 – has been sold to Polferries to take up the route between Gdansk and Nynäshamn in late March.

Red Funnel orders freight-only cross-Solent ferry at Cammell Laird

To take the pressure away from its three Raptor-Class ro-paxes, Red Funnel has ordered a GBP 10 million double-ended freight-only ferry that will be introduced between Southampton (Terminal 1) and East Cowes (Isle of Wight) in spring 2019.

Metal Shark together with Incat Crowther has developed a new line of high-speed passenger vessels named Endurance PV-X, available in a 26-metre configuration with a 150-passenger capacity and a 32-metre configuration with capacity for 350 passengers.

Dalmont Kraljevica delivers new flagship to Rapska Plovidba

Dalmont Kraljevica has delivered CETIRI ZVONIKA to Rapska Plovidba. The HRK 60 million (EUR 8.05 million) double-ender is the largest ferry ever built for Rapska Plovidba, becoming the Croatian ferry operator’s flagship.

Barska Plovidba still hoping to introduce a ro-pax in time for the 2018 summer

Captain Ljubomir Kocovic, Chairman of Barska Plovidba, has told local press that the state-owned shipping company has not succeeded in finding a replacement ship for SVETI STEFAN II which was sold for recycling last year.

TUI Cruises, a joint venture between TUI Group and Royal Caribbean Cruises, has ordered a new cruise ship from Meyer Turku Shipyard. Named MEIN SCHIFF 7 she will be a sister ship to the new MEIN SCHIFF 1 and MEIN SCHIFF 2.

Hard on the heels of the GNV/Moby order for four new ro-paxes yesterday, 11 February, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) has bagged an order for two more large ro-pax ferries - this time to be built for DFDS.

GSI lands four-ship order from GNV and Moby

The long-awaited joint GNV/Moby order at Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) has been officially signed today, 11 February, just in time for the Chinese New Year.

Both MSC-owned GNV and Moby (Onorato Armatori) have each ordered two 64,000gt ro-paxes with an option for two more ships of the same class for both GNV and Moby. The ships will be built at the new Nansha shipyard of GSI with the first one due for delivery in 2020.
