Stena AB financial results for the 1 January-30 September 2019 period

Ferry Operations

- Revenue increased from SEK 10,769 million for the period in 2018 to SEK 11,128 million for the same period in 2019.

- EBITDA increased to SEK 2,958 million (SEK 2,490 million for the same period in 2018) thanks to continued increased volumes for cars (+1%), with freight and passenger numbers corresponding with last year. The acquisition of STENA SCANDINAVICA in December 2018 also increased EBITDA by SEK 72 million by moving costs from charter costs to depreciations. Implementation of the new lease standard, IFRS 16, affected positively with SEK 275 million.

Ro-ro Vessels

Revenue from the company’s ro-ro activities reached SEK 330million (SEK 400 million) for the period, with EBITDA falling from SEK 373 million in 2018 to SEK 275 million in 2019. This decrease is traced to lower charter income due to vessels sold in 2018. A net gain of SEK 137 million affected last year’s result. The implementation of the new lease standard, IFRS 16, has not affected EBITDA within the ro-ro operations.

Irish Continental Group (ICG) in a period of growth

There has been growth on all fronts, with the addition of W.B. YEATS having lifted the ferries division significantly. Total revenues for the ferries division during the first ten months amounted to EUR 184.3 million (+7.1%).
