Customs check threat to Bay Ferries service
A new threat has emerged to the future of the Bay Ferries high-speed passenger and vehicle service between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and Portland, Maine, with the American city not prepared to invest millions of dollars in upgrades demanded by the Federal Government to keep a customs inspection operation at the Ocean Gateway Terminal.
UPDATED: Lengthened FINNTIDE handed back to Finnlines
The 30m lengthening of FINNTIDE has been successfully completed by Gdansk-based Remontowa Group and the now 4,213-lanemetre, 217.77m freight ro-ro was handed back to Finnlines on 23 November.
Tender open for new Port Gaženica ferry and cruise terminal
The new ferry and cruise terminal at Port Gaženica, Croatia, has been under construction since 2016, with the Zadar Port Authority having sent out an invitation to tender to manage, operate and maintain it.
Finnish criticism on raised Swedish fairway dues

GLEN SANNOX - the first LNG ferry in the UK - was launched on 21 November at Ferguson Marine Engineering Limited’s (FMEL) Port Glasgow shipyard.
Miyazaki Car Ferry and Miyazaki Senpaku throw in the towel following accumulated losses
Miyazaki Car Ferry and Miyazaki Senpaku, owner of the two ferries operated by Miyazaki Car Ferry, announced on 20 November that they will be wound up.
P&O Ferries happy with lo-lo service from their Zeebrugge hub
P&O Ferries have reported that they have carried almost 15,000 units (14,804) on their new dedicated lift unit freight service connecting the company’s Zeebrugge hub with Hull thrice a week.
Liverpool Cruise Terminal plans to be considered in January
Liverpool Council’s Planning Committee will meet in January to consider an application for a new GBP 50m cruise terminal on the banks of the River Mersey close to the city’s historic Pier Head. This will see the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company moving to a new base further down river at the Princes Half Tide Dock where Manx Parliament Tynwald is spending GBP 3.5m to secure a 236- year site lease from port owner and operator Peel Ports.

Groupe Eurotunnel, managing and operating the channel tunnel between Britain and France, has changed its name to Getlink to mark the Group’s passage into a new era.

Færgen, the Danish domestic ferry operator, has reported a continued growth for their operations to the Isles of Bornholm, Samsø, Fanø, Als, Lolland-Falster and Langeland.
