FADIQ takes to the water
The 4,100-lanemetre FADIQ – sister to the MELEQ – was launched from the covered building hall of Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) earlier today (7 September).
Baleària denied long-term authorisation to Nador
Just when it seemed that Baleària had cracked it in Nador, and posted a sailing schedule from Almeria up to January 2018, so word from Rabat is that their authorisation was for summer only, and services are therefore only authorised up to 15 September.
Trasmediterranea gets Public Service Contract to Melilla
As widely expected, the Public Service Contract (PSC) to Melilla has been awarded to Trasmediterranea - again. The new contract will start in November of this year and run for two years.

Earlier today, 4 September, the 10,620 gt freight ro-ro HIMAWARI 8 of Nippon Shipping Co.,Ltd. – a subsidiary of logistics giant Nippon Express Co., Ltd. – entered service on the Kushiro-Tomakomai-Tokyo route replacing the 2001-built HIMAWARI 1.

Earlier this week, steel cutting marked the start of the construction of the first of four 6,700-lanemetre ro-ros DFDS ordered at the Chinese Jinling Shipyard.
Management board change at Jadrolinija
In a surprise move, the Croatian government announced yesterday, 31 August, that Jadrolinija’s current management board, led by Alan Klanac, will be replaced. The government will appoint its own board within the coming weeks.
