STENA CARRIER and STENA FREIGHTER sold to unnamed buyers

As briefly reported yesterday in the newspiece about Stena AB’s 1H 2018 financial results, Stena RoRo has sold the Stena 4-Runner Mk I Class STENA CARRIER to unnamed buyers. Sister ship STENA FREIGHTER, currently operating for Compagnie Tunisiènne de Navigation (CTN) in the West Med, will be sold and delivered to her new owners during 4Q 2018.

New start-up Indian cruise line Zen Cruises buys PACIFIC JEWEL

New Indian start-up cruise line Zen Cruises has bought P&O Cruises Australia’s 70,310gt 1990-built PACIFIC JEWEL. The vessel will leave Australia in March 2019 and start cruises from Indian ports later the same year.

Gibdock to convert Baleària’s NAPOLES to LNG operation

The conversion of the first of five ro-paxes owned and operated by Spanish ferry company Baleària, will be undertaken at Gibraltar’s Gibdock between November this year and January 2019. Most of the work will be undertaken alongside, with a short period in drydock.

EL. VENIZELOS suffers vehicle deck fire

Anek Lines’ EL. VENIZELOS with 875 passengers and 141 crew on board suffered a fire on one of her vehicle decks while en route from Piraeus to Chania, Crete last night (28-29 August). Fincantieri extends Chinese cooperation

Color Line 2018 1H financial results

Color Group had operating revenues of NOK 2.25 billion for 1H, 2018, an improvement from the NOK 2.12 billion for the same period last year. EBIT reached NOK 108 million for the period, up from NOK 50 million the same period last year.

Irish Continental Group 1H 2018 financial results

During the seasonally less profitable first half of the year, the Group recorded revenue of EUR 157.2 million compared with EUR 156.1 million in the same period in 2017 – a 0.7% increase. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) before non-trading items were EUR 26.1 million compared with EUR 29.6 million in the same period in 2017. 

Stena AB 1H 2018 financial results

Ferry Operation

- Revenue increased from SEK 5,803 million in 1H 2017 to SEK 6,328 million in 1H 2018.

- EBITDA, excluding net gain on sale of assets, increased compared to last year due to continued increased volumes for cars (3%), passengers (2%) and freight (4%). EBITDA reached SEK 1,065 million (SEK 1,128 million, including SEK 133 million sale of vessel in 2017).

Shipping

Revenue decreased from SEK 3,043 million in 1H 2017 to SEK 2,916 million in 1H 2018. EBITDA for the shipping activities reached SEK 148 million (SEK 343 million), of this the ro-ro activities amounted to SEK 146 million (SEK 223 million).

Highest ever vehicle traffic levels for BC Ferries in the first quarter

Revenues increased by 1.5% to CAD 229.7 million in the quarter. Net earnings for the first quarter of fiscal 2019 were CAD 6.0 million, compared to net earnings of CAD 17.3 million for the same quarter of the previous year.

Loss of contracts impacted Norled’s 2017 financial results

Norled's turnover shrunk by 0.6% from NOK 2,108 million in 2016 to NOK 2,094 million in 2017. EBITDA decreased more significantly by 12.4% to NOK 339 million in 2017 while profit before tax decreased 9.8% to NOK 110 million.
