Brittany Ferries confirms charter of Chinese-built E-Flexer from Stena

In a telephone interview with Shippax, Brittany Ferries has confirmed that they will charter the third ship in Stena’s E-Flexer series to be built at Avic Weihai in China.

Steel cutting started for polar expedition vessel HONDIUS

Brodosplit has made the first steel cut for hull number 484 on 22 August. Built for Oceanwide Expeditions, and to be named HONDIUS, she will be the first vessel to meet the latest and highest polar classification level, Polar Class 6.

Genting Hong Kong Group 2017 half year report

Revenue from cruise and cruise-related activities increased 22.7% to USD 471.2m the first six months of 2017, compared to USD 384.0m the same period last year. Net Revenue increased by 18.2% to USD 363.7m, compared to USD 307.8m the same period last year, mainly due to an increase in Capacity Days.

First quarter results for BC Ferries released

Passenger traffic levels were the highest BC Ferries has experienced in the past 20 years and vehicle traffic levels were the highest the company has ever experienced as compared to the same quarter in prior years. During this quarter, passenger traffic increased 3.8% and vehicle traffic increased 4.4% compared to the same quarter in the prior year.

On Friday, Fjord Line sent out a press release stating that, “The Australian shipbuilder Austal Ships Pty Ltd has been commissioned to build a 109m high-speed catamaran which will represent a new technological standard and provide clear environmental gains on the Kristiansand-Hirtshals route.”

Wasaline 2017 half year report

Wasaline transported 81,473 passengers (Jan-June 2017), a 10.5% increase compared with the same period last year (73,678 in 2016). Freight lanemeters transported ended at 143,528 (+ 21.9%) and tonnes transported increased by 11.8% (160,861 tonnes).

The Group's total number of passengers amounted to 1,387 million, a decrease of 1% compared to the same period last year. The number of freight units transported amounted to 41,098, an increase of 22% compared to the same period last year.
