HH Ferries Q3 results
FinanceHH Ferries, with brand name Scandlines, servicing Helsingborg-Helsingör has released their Q3 results. Impacted by costs of ID controls due to the boarder security, some Q3 key highlights are:
- Number of departures unchanged at 12.800
- Scandlines Helsingborg-Helsingör transported 473.000 cars in Q3, compared to 487.000 in 2015, a decline of 3%
- Number of trucks transported increased by 3% from 95.000 in 2015 to 98.000
- Goods transported by 4% from 1.087.000 in 2015 to 1.132.000
- Number of buses up 100 from 7.300 to 7.400 in Q3, 2016.
- Total amount of passengers on Helsingborg-Helsingör decreased by 3% from 2.6 million (Q3 2015), to 2.5 million (Q3 2016)
Henrik Rørbæk, CEO of HH Ferries AB comments: "The development in bus and truck transportation remains positive. The latter shows a positive trend, which emphasises our role as the floating bridge between Helsingborg and Helsingör – to the benefit of businesses in the region and the European trade. Private travellers are finding the double ID and border control to be challenging – even though we handle the task as efficiently and flexibly as possible and continue to complete 142 daily departures. It has been expensive for us to comply with the rules, and we are pleased to see the Swedish government's proposal to compensate us and other transport companies,"
"The decision to convert ferries TYCHO BRAHE and AURORA to battery operation as part of our environmental strategy has received great attention. Most recently when both ferries in September headed for a yard stay for their first preparatory work done ahead of the final conversion next year. We maintained our stable operations during the yard stays, and the project, which is the largest single project investment in the company's history, progresses to plan. We expect the two ferries to be able to sail on pure electric power before the end of 2017,"
