Former ferry AF CLAUDIA PRIMA to be used as cruise ship for Millennials
FerryNewspaper Jamaica Observer wrote that StarShip Cruise Line’s CARIBBEAN GALAXY will make her inaugural call to Jamaica in December.
The so-far unknown company is said to be focusing on education, music and culture and philanthropy, and is aimed at the Millennial segment.
The vessel is expected to make calls at the ports of Montego Bay, Port Antonio and Kingston, writes the Jamaica Observer.
It is unknown who is behind StarShip Cruise Line, but the name Marc Baron reminds of an earlier announcement of the start of cruises aimed at the LGBT community. The line, called Anteros, was going to offer year-round sailings for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender passengers, and was announced for a start in the Mediterranean in 2017. An unknown 400-pax ship was going to be used.
It could be the same company.
In January 2016, the 1973-built former Adria Ferries veteran AF CLAUDIA PRIMA, renamed CARIBBEAN GALAXY, had been acquired by Atlantic Blue Seaways, a company headquartered in Fort Lauderdale. The ship was still flying the Italian flag when the owners said they wanted to start regular services in the Caribbean. After a failed summer charter to Grimaldi Naples (because of the ship's standards) it was unclear what was going to happen with the ferry.
The ferry has a little more than 200 cabins, and with two persons per cabin it could be the 400-pax ship announced for Anteros, and eventually ending up in a new venture.
